It's Been A While...

Man, the last time I have been on here it was March. Time flies by! Here is an update of what has been going on at The Deep End:
  • We have split into two groups because of the large number of people coming to The Deep End. Shannon and Amy are meeting together to talk about basics in our relationship with God. I (Jim) am leading a group for people that are looking to go even deeper into their faith, with the study of Crazy Love.
  • We want more people to come experience The Deep End. This is not about becoming something big. It is about becoming something more. It is about experiencing Christ with other people. When we have that love for Christ, we shouldn't hide it; we should share it!
By the way, how is your week going so far? Is there any way that I can pray for you?

Peace,

Jim

What a great time!!!

I don't know about you, but I had a great time at The Deep End yesterday morning. It is nice to see new people and hear their thoughts on life in general. Where else can you have a discussion about sharing Christ with other people and your child's behavior at Wal-Mart???

What are you happy about? What are you looking forward to this week?

What are you passionate about?

Sometimes, I think I spread myself too thin. I think sometimes I am just plain lazy. Whatever it is, I don't do things wholeheartedly. But, there are some things in my life that I am passionate about. Take for instance, my family. Due to my new job, the precious time that I have with my 3-year-old son is when I get him ready for the day and when I get him ready for bed. I take that time real serious with my son and enjoy it for all I can. My wife and I used to work in the same building together for a year. We had the same schedule. Not anymore. When we are together, I don't want to waste that time.

I am also passionate about the relationship that I have with God. The thought that no matter how many times I screw up, I know that he loves me. But, when I know that He has that love for me, it makes me NOT want to keep on screwing up. That is the passion that keeps me going on a crappy day. That is the passion that keeps me going when things are going great. That is the passion that I want to share with people.

What is your passion? What are you passionate about? What is the one thing in your life that you can have a conversation with anyone at any time? I am telling you that God can be your passion. He is wanting that relationship with you. He wants to be the Father for you.

So we're not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There's far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can't see now will last forever.
-2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Praising God on Tuesday Evening

One of the biggest "things" I struggle with in my journey is to take what I get at church on Sunday morning, and transfer it to the rest of the week. Today was an awful day. It just looks like blah outside. Our son, Eli, has a fever and had to be picked up at school today. The day didn't start off that well as the ever-growing monster of laundry was a heated discussion. But, I do remember on Sunday morning talking about how your words affect your general attitude about things. So, it's still a struggle that on a Tuesday evening, 5 minutes from leaving work, how do I praise Him? Maybe I will crack open my bible tonight. What do you think? What's your mid-week struggle?
